Description

With this home addition and remodel project, we’re honored to contribute to our town’s rich history. The original farmhouse has stood since the early days of the area’s development, and our clients were keen to weave its story into the new design. Our aim was to preserve their family’s 1920s farmhouse aesthetics while expanding the living space to accommodate their growing family.

In 2016, we collaborated closely with the owner to craft a vision that seamlessly merged the past with the present. This involved meticulous planning and conceptualization to ensure the renovation and addition would honor the farmhouse’s legacy. When the remodel and additions were completed in 2018, the home retained much of its original structure and charm.

The project demanded an in-depth analysis of the existing building and a comprehensive demolition plan to safeguard its integrity. This included raising the house to install a new foundation, reinforcing all existing structural elements, and incorporating the necessary details to meet current building codes.

The two additional living areas were pivotal in meeting the family’s needs. The main living area addition boasts a spacious open layout with a vaulted ceiling housing the kitchen, dining, and utility areas. This modern design seamlessly integrates with the historic farmhouse. Meanwhile, the second addition encompasses an owner’s suite and second-story bedrooms, also seamlessly integrated into the original layout to ensure structural stability.
